Square stock (surfaced four sides or S4S) is dimensioned hardwood lumber that has been planed on all sides.  S4S hardwood lumber is ready for your building and fabrication needs.  Hardwood Technologies also sells rough hardwood lumber directly by the board foot which is not finished on any side.
